Here is an easy recipe, and a fun one to make for the holidays. Homemade cranberry sauce to serve with your Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner.
4 cups (one 12 oz package) fresh cranberries
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup water
Any additional ingredients you want to add such as raisins, spices, walnuts etc.
Boil the water and sugar mixture and stir the sugar until dissolved. Add the washed cranberries to the boiling mixture. Return to a boil then simmer for about 10 minutes or until the cranberries pop open.
Once the cranberries pop open, you can add any of the additional ingredients. I like walnuts and a little nutmeg in mine. Stir well and allow to cool to room temperature before refrigeration. The sauce will completely thicken once refrigerated.
This is a simple way to make a delicious cranberry sauce that will taste much better than any store bought sauce.
