Mommies need to have time to themselves no matter how much they love their families. One reason that many mothers suffer from depression and post partum blues is because raising a family is exhausting and moms often feel out of control of their own lives. Stay at home moms get the brunt of the day to day with kids, housekeeping, errands and any other number of other things that take up their time. So how does a busy mom find time for herself? She has to make the time for herself, simple as that.
It’s important to remember that mommy needs to keep mentally and physically healthy, and an exhausted mom does not make for a happy home. Mom’s should not feel guilty for taking time away from their families to make time for themselves, it defeats the whole purpose.
Some Relaxing Ideas For Moms
Go to a spa. Spas offer all different types of relaxing options like manicures, pedicures and massages. Invite a friend to go along, many spas offer discounts for more than one person.
Go to the gym. Exercise is good for the mind and the body. Working out is a great way to relieve stress plus most gyms have Jacuzzi’s or saunas to relax in afterward.
Plan a girl getaway. It can be out of town or at a friends house, it doesn’t have to be expensive. Just like kids need friends, mommy needs her friends and some adult conversation without the kids around sometimes.
Catch up on a hobby. Get a spouse, family member or friend to watch the kids for a couple of hours to relax by using some creativity like painting, knitting, gardening or whatever else comes to mind.
Create play dates. Watching more kids is more work, but when the other moms are watching the kids then it all seems worth it for the little bit of extra work. Creating play dates opens up more free time for everybody.
It’s not always easy to be mom, mommy or mama. Children don’t understand the needs that their parents have when it comes to quiet time or wanting to go to bed early, so mom’s have to keep telling themselves they are the ones in charge and take charge. Life only happens once, so live it and don’t feel guilty about wanting time without the children. Happy moms make happy children and happy homes!
