Do you crave salty foods? Maybe you have a sweet tooth? There are some snacks and treats that cater to those who crave salty, or sweet, but rarely to both. If you have a taste for salty and sweet at the same time you can make some delicious treats that are great for Christmas or other times of the year. The easy recipe takes salty pretzels and turns them into a sweet treat that your family and friends will love. They’re so colorful and attractive, too, so they make fabulous gifts for the holidays.
So many Christmas candies involve way too many steps! You’re obligated to make them, though, so you’ll trudge along. That’s not the attitude at all when you make pretzel candy. They’re so quick and easy that you won’t mind making lots and lots of them!
Line a baking sheet with wax paper or parchment paper then fill it full of bite-size pretzels. The pretzels you use should be the ones that look like waffles. If you can’t find them in your hometown you can definitely order them online. Arrange as many pretzels as you want as long as they don’t overlap each other.
Place a Hershey’s Kiss or White Chocolate Hershey’s Kiss on each of the waffle pretzels. Preheat the oven to 170 degrees and slide the pretzels into the oven. For some reason, the white chocolate type melts quicker, so keep an eye on them. Allow to bake four to five minutes or until the chocolate begins to melt. Touch each chocolate with a wooden spoon to test if they’re ready to come out and to slightly smash the chocolate.
Before the chocolates have a chance to cool press an M&M’s candy into the center of each one. Let the candies cool for a few minutes then place them in the fridge. After about ten minutes they’ll be ready to serve. Fill cellophane bags or clear glass jars with them to create a fabulous Christmas gift.
Make a different type of pretzel candy by laying a regular-size marshmallow on each one. Melt in the oven for a very short time until the marshmallows just begin to melt. Remove them and place an M&M, Reese’s Pieces (Christmas colors), or another piece of candy on top. They’re beautiful, they’re easy, and they’re oh, so scrumptious. These will soon be on your list of traditional holiday treats!
