Hitting the road is something that most people do with a great deal of foresight and planning. They will cancel their newspaper subscription, have the USPS hold their mail, get someone to feed their dog and maybe this trip is even deserving of getting new luggage or something like that. However there are times when the planning flies out the window and you just have got to go. Here are some pointers for packing for a sudden road trip.
There are a few things to consider when it comes to what clothing you are going to pack for your emergency road trip. Where are you going? What is the time of year? Climate? For how long will you be gone? Could this trip be open-ended? If it’s shorter duration, what’s the projected forecast? Answering all these questions will help you be able to pull your wardrobe together for an emergency road trip. Note: If the trip could be open-ended or will likely be longer than a couple of weeks you may have to throw together a condensed version of your entire wardrobe including work clothes if this applies (i.e. – if you could be working at a satellite office of your business or company).
Most places (homes) have things like towels, toilet paper, and such but if you have contact lenses, you need to bring contact lens solution. If you have special tooth needs you’ll need to bring your oral care items. Also your own toothbrush is the far more culturally accepted version of the shared toothbrush. Hair products, makeup, deodorant, a favorite towel, your rubber ducky; all these are things which demand your consideration when you’re set to do an impromptu hit the road.
Wherever you’re going, you need the correct tools for the job. If you’re a live-in hospice worker with a terminally ill special needs child, undoubtedly there are things specific to his or her situation which would be vital in your care. If you’re going to be staying with an elderly relative who is also having trouble getting around and needs day-to-day assistance, perhaps cobbling together some old memories of you and they together would bring them some joy. There are requisite tools for every job around, making sure that you’ve got the right tools for your emergency visit is just as important as your presence.
Emergency situation road trips usually aren’t for a good reason. Whether you’re running from the boogey man or running to an ailing friend or relative, remember your purpose, remember your goals, and go to them in as fast a manner as possible.
