Many of us spend much time and energy on trying to shed some pounds. Whether it be from exercise or dieting, men and women of all ages are trying to fight the fat you could say. However, there are ways in which to help keep your metabolism going without the crazed diets or excruciating exercises. Follow these four helpful tips to speeding up your metabolism, along with a healthy dose of exercise, to see lasting results.
Don’t Forget Breakfast
Some people may think that by cutting down on a meal, they are sure to lose some extra pounds. But cutting back on your breakfast, which I am sure that we have all heard as being the most important meal of the day, is not the way to go about and does not even aid in losing weight. In fact, it has been shown that those who eat breakfast are more likely to lose weight than those who don’t. Be sure to not skip out on breakfast, and consume foods that are high in fiber. This will help to aid your morning hunger and not release any unhealthy sugars in the blood stream. Some good choices for breakfast foods are eggs, multi grain toast, fruits, yogurts and high fiber multi grain cereal.
Now, snaking often can be a beneficial part of keeping your metabolism going and losing weight under the only condition of choosing your snacks wisely. Snacking all day on chips or candies or any sugary fatty substance is not helpful. But choosing healthy snacks that you can nibble on throughout the day will keep your hunger at bay and keep your metabolism running. Don’t ever deny yourself food if your stomach is telling you that it’s hungry, snacking in between meals in perfectly alright. When choosing your snacks, search for foods that are natural and healthy for your body. Fruits and veggies are always a great way to go, but nuts, yogurt, or plain popcorns are excellent choices.
Low fat milk can be such a helpful tool in keeping your metabolism running and shedding those extra pounds, especially for women. It has been shown that those who drink at least one glass of milk a day are shown to lose more weight than those who do not. There are myths I think about drinking milk that lead people to staying away from it when they are trying to lose weight, and that myth is that since milk is dairy it can’t possibly be good. This is not true, and along with helping to keep your bones strong, milk can definitely be a source of losing weight.
Exercise in Short Mini-Sessions
It is believed that only after excruciatingly hard core exercise are we sure to see weight loss results. This is not true, and in fact, the complete opposite can be done and still keep our metabolisms running and our extra weight off. If you exercise in small sessions throughout the day, your metabolism will continually be getting a boost and you are still sure to see weight loss results. If you do fifteen minutes of exercise in the morning, and then go for a walk or jog or bike ride for thirty minutes in the afternoon, and then be sure to do something physical for five minutes every hour, your metabolism will be running continuously during the day.
Losing weight doesn’t have to mean giving up food and going on harsh diets, and it certainly doesn’t mean that we have to resort to heavy exercise either. By following these simple rules, and keeping our metabolisms on the run throughout the day is a sure way to do so.
