Georgia drivers can begin operating actual vehicles on the road by obtaining a learners permit. Future Georgia drivers should first obtain a copy of the relevant Georgia drivers manual to start studying for the learners permit test. They can then find and use Georgia permit practice tests to supplement the official Georgia DMV manual.
You should first take your necessary Georgia driver’s education course. The materials in this course will generally provide you with many permit practice tests and questions. If you already finished your course and do not have the course books or materials, then contact a course provider and ask what materials students of the class use so you can pick up a copy.
The driver’s ed course should be only the first step in preparing for your Georgia drivers permit test. You will now need to find the correct manual for the Georgia permit that you want to obtain. Other than the regular driver’s manual, there are also CDL and motorycle manuals published by the Georgia DMV. There is also a Parent/Teen Driving Guide. Go to the Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS) “Forms and Manuals” page at dds.ga.gov/FormsandManuals/index.aspx.
Study the manual for your Georgia permit exam and complete any practice tests and questions that you find in the manual. You can then turn to outside sources to find Georgia permit practice tests.
Go to the Georgia DDS “Driver’s License Practice Test’ page at dds.ga.gov/Training/pt_intro.aspx. Georgia provides a practice permit test free of charge on the Department of Driver Services website. Note that, while the page says that this is a Georgia drivers license test, this is the same thing as a permit test because the learners permit test is the first part of the overall license test.
Take an additional Georgia drivers permit practice test through Free DMV Practice Tests. Go to freedmvpracticetests.com/ga-georgia and select the practice exam that applies to your chosen permit. For example, if you want a learners permit to ride a motorcycle, you would take that practice test.
You should always refer to the latest edition of the Georgia driver’s manual for current state road rules and traffic laws. Do not rely solely on any third-party materials or practice questions.
