Transitioning your wardrobe from summer to fall can be the most difficult wardrobe change of the year. While the days might remain hot, the mornings are downright cold, and nights become chilly quickly. It is technically still summer, but you can begin the feel the crispness of autumn in the air, and besides, you have grown tired of your summer clothing. What is a girl to do when it comes to taking a summer wardrobe into fall gracefully and comfortably? Here are some tips:
Adding fall-friendly accessories to your summer wardrobe is a great way to begin to make the changes needed to meet the new season. Lightweight knit scarves can be brought out and layered over more summery tops. Switch your summer handbag for something that whispers fall, such as a handbag in a metallic, earthy color. Faux fur is hot for handbags this fall, too.
Sandals can be tucked away in favor of suede footwear, whether they are flats or pumps. Ankle booties and thigh-high boots are a must-have for the fall of 2010, so peep-toed ankle booties can replace your summer footwear when wearing jeans or leggings. Thigh-high boots and sheer dresses pair well together, too.
Sweater and Layers
Layering is key when it comes to taking a wardrobe from summer seamlessly into fall. Lightweight cardigans look terrific over camisoles or layered over tees, blouses or dresses. Look for sweaters with hot fall embellishments, such as ruffles or rosettes, or choose a sporty stripe or a Fair Isle pattern. If you do some looking around online at clothing websites right now, you can find sale sweaters that fit the bill for this fall perfectly.
Sweater coats are big for fall 2010, and they are the answer to those cold mornings and chilly nights. A sweater coat is not only stylish, but extremely functional, and it is likely to become a wardrobe piece that you will go to again and again as fall moves into winter.
Denim and Military Style
Denim never goes out of season, and the biggest trend for the fall of 2010 is military-styled clothing, from combat boots to jackets with military detailing. Take that floral dress from last spring and toss a denim jacket over it for a fresh, fall look. Don combat boots with the more slim jeans of this fall, or add a military style jacket to your wardrobe to layer over a more feminine blouse or top.
Have some fun with the new fall trends, and make your transition in layers. Start spicing up your wardrobe with trendy pieces for fall 2010, and before you know it, fall will be fully upon us, and you will have already added many important items to your fall wardrobe. Do not forget to change your makeup colors along with your clothing. Plum colors are super hot for the fall, both on eyes and lips, and candy-apple red lips are all over this fall, as well. Happy shopping!
