Keywords are a major part of article writing. Any person who makes money from writing articles should have a clear grasp on how to write them effectively and how to use keywords properly with the proper keyword density. If you’re writing blogs or articles for the Internet, then it will be very important that you learn as much as possible about keywords and how to use them properly.
There are two common mistakes when using keywords. The first is to use them too much and the second is to not use them enough. The following goes into more depth about these two issues and explains how to keep those mistakes from happening.
• Too Many Keywords – Many writers make this mistake more than they make the mistake of not using them enough. Writers rely on their clients to pay for keyword heavy articles and if there are not enough, some writers feel their clients may not pay for the articles. A three hundred word article only needs to have the keyword in it three times including in the title. Many search engines search only the first sentence of the first paragraph and the last paragraph to find keywords. For this reason, they should be included in those two areas without being repeated in the body unless it fits naturally. Use a keyword density checker like Dupefree and make sure that the density is at least 1% but no more than 2% in each article.
• Not Enough Keywords – If you are not using enough keywords, then you are not getting paid for your articles. Doing the proper research should allow you to use the keywords to form a full thought that makes sense to the reader. Again, using a density checker is the best way to make sure articles of any length have the proper keyword usage.
If you don’t have a density checker, then a good rule of thumb for keyword writing is to use your keyword or keyword phrase once for every 100 words of the article. So a 400 word article would use the main keyword 400 times. This is how you can help ensure you are using your keywords enough but not overstuffing the article so that you are penalized.
There are search engine penalties for keyword stuffing but you also have a problem in that it makes it difficult for the human reader to comprehend and will reduce views of your article or content.
