Anna Nicole Smith’s popularity has faded, but the drug allegations against several of her associates remain in the limelight. According to CNN, Anna Nicole Smith died in 2007 of “‘acute combined drug intoxication.'” This serves as no surprise to the general public because the general public has known for some time that Anna Nicole Smith died from drugs. The real interest seems to be in how Anna Nicole Smith got her drugs, and much of the fingers seem to be pointed towards Howard K. Stern and others.
The wait now seems to be over as to whether or not the courts will hold Howard K. Stern, Anna Nicole Smith’s long time partner, accountable for what some believe he is guilty of, which is providing Anna Nicole Smith with drugs to feed her addiction. According to CNN, Howard K. Stern is one of the two people that the courts have found guilty of a conspiracy count. CNN notes Steve Sadow, Stern’s attorney, as saying, “…that the conspiracy conviction for his client was for Stern having given his consent to Eroshevich to use Stern’s name on prescriptions intended for Smith.”
CNN does point out the argument that the defense gave in that using false names “…is a common practice in Hollywood, used to protect celebrities’ privacy from prying tabloid reporters. Still, a conviction against Howard K. Stern in the matter of Anna Nicole Smith’s drug usage has now occurred, so what’s next? Sentencing, of course, but will Howard K. Stern get the maximum three years that the prosecutor’s office said that he could face, according to CNN? Maybe not. According to CNN, “Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Robert Perry hinted before the verdicts were returned that he would consider ‘possible selective prosecution issues’…”
What does this mean for Howard K. Stern? It means that he may not have to face any really harsh sentencing, that’s what. This should come as no surprise, though. Lots of speculation has surrounded Howard K. Stern before and after Anna Nicole Smith’s death, and he’s weathered the speculation well. Still, Howard K. Stern will have to face a sentencing for his part in the Anna Nicole Smith ordeal in regards to helping her obtain drugs. CNN reports that such sentencing will occur on January 6th. Will Howard K. Stern get off light? (Some feel that he already has.) The general public will learn Howard K. Stern’s fate when he learns it, January 6th.
