Hurricane Hermine doused most of the drought-ridden Dallas-Ft. Worth yesterday with a deluge of 5-7 inches of rain. South Arlington recorded 10 inches.
The Trinity River which was at trickle stage before the downpour reached flood stage in downtown Dallas. By seven this morning the river is expected to crest at 42.8 feet, which is more than 12 above it’s 30 foot deep channel. Industries along the river were preparing for flooding.
In Arlington, apartments located close to the Rangers ballpark were evacuated. The Willows apartments parking lot at Valleywood Drive and Pioneer Parkway was turned into a lake as rescue efforts by firemen commenced.
At least four tornadoes were spawned by the storm, knocking down walls and flipping vehicles in their path.
We desperately needed rain; but not all at one time.
