I DON’T LIKE THIS ADDICTION and I know I have a problem. I hoard. The biggest thing I hoard is Rubbermaid Containers. It started many years ago. I collected books, dolls, writings and stuffed them in Rubbermaid Containers. I have a lot of old junk I think may be valuable someday. So I would buy another Rubbermaid Container for the valuable junk. I was going to make a lot of money on this stuff. This is unrealistic because I can’t sell any of it. The Madame Alexandra Dolls I collected can’t even sell for one third of the price I paid for them many years ago. I have about 30 Rubbermaid Containers with treasures. I only have a one bedroom apartment.
I especially like all the crayon pictures my grown children did as a child. My oldest son Jerry is 43 and I still have his noodle wreath he made for me in kindergarten. It is just a round circle of cardboard and painted gold . It had gold noodles on it at one time. The noodles fell off. I cry every time I get that Rubbermaid container out and go through all the stuff. He made me a Beer Bottle vase. It is so beautiful. I guess all kids make one of them at school . It is painted yellow.
Shawn, my 38 year old son made me a Birthday card once that I cherish. He says in the card he will clean the house and made a gold bar in crayon and said it was a solid gold promise. He was about five years old.
Jason , who is 30, made a picture for the wall. It is a piece of cardboard covered in aluminum foil. You take a pencil and lightly draw on it with a pencil. It is nice. For many years it hung it on the wall.
Lukas, made me a lovely Christmas card. It has a picture of Mary and Joseph cut out of a magazine and pasted on a cardboard to make a Christmas Card.
Jessica, my oldest granddaughter painted and drew so many things for me. She is an artist and someday she may be famous. I have a collection of her art work. It doesn’t matter if she gets famous or not, she is famous to me.
David, another grandchild painted a picture of a truck for me. What is so amazing is that David was only four years old and he knew how to paint a perfect truck.
Eme has paintings all over my kitchen wall that she did for me. She is only two and she is so proud of her paintings. Her sister Alena and brother Joseph also have paintings on my wall. Someday when I get a big collection I will store them in one of my Rubbermaid Containers.
I have so many of these treasures. I just don’t know if I can part with these precious things while I am still on this earth. They are much too important to me. I have given away a lot of dolls as gifts.
I have a big problem constantly buying books. A couple of years ago before I moved I got rid of a lot of books. I probably have hundreds more. I find so many bargains in recycled books. I find old books that I read twenty or more years ago and I want to read them again. Most of them cost from $1.00 TO $4.00. I don’t buy new ones.
I was cleaning out one of my Rubbermaid Containers and found a rent receipt that was over 40 years old. I pitched it. I know I need to get serious about this ADDICTION. I am a Senior citizen and time is running out. I have not been paid by Rubbermaid. I use Rubbermaid because they are the best and do not fall apart.
