Imagine if web series were able to get funding in the $20,000-$50,000 range with twelve or thirteen short three to five minute installments, each ending with a cliffhanger. A web series in the mold of a modern Saturday matinee adventure serial! With the entire series funded and several thousand dollars left over to pay the cast and crew!
With this approach, you have a better platform to increase interest from both film studios and television networks. It would also allow web series to compete on a much bigger platform. The still current business model is one simply designed for film studios and television networks to take a passing glance and say ”Oh how nice, we’ll take a look at it…”
Yet this latter business model could help web series be taken more seriously. The executives’ reaction to it could be more along the lines of ”Oh wow, let’s get these guys! They’ve got something going for them!” A reaction everyone wants toward their work, but only a handful are lucky to ever get in their careers.
