I was looking for some nice, but inexpensive Thanksgiving and fall decorations, so I visited one of our Dollar General stores. To my surprise, I found quite a large selection to choose from. There is a diverse range of items, like the beautiful fall door plaque I purchased, to some small decorative plates. The pieces were very inexpensive; the small plates were the cheapest at $2 apiece. These decorations are now on sale, so it’s a great time to buy.
They have the Christmas decorations out, too. I spotted some nice hanging ornaments I plan on purchasing sometime next week. A lot of the single ornaments are only $1. I did buy a tree skirt; it’s quite pretty, for only $3. I also bought a box of Christmas cards; a box of 24 was $2.
Before you purchase any holiday items, think about the theme (for example, is it more religious or more for children) and/or color scheme you’ll be using. I plan on looking over all my Christmas decorations so I can be sure that whatever I choose will not be duplicated. That way, you can narrow down what you plan to purchase and save even more money.
For anyone on a tight budget, or for the bargain hunter, this could be the place for you. I like to shop smart and I certainly like the idea of decorating my home with nice things without spending a lot of money, especially in these tight economic times. So if this sounds like something for you, get out there and happy shopping!
