Empowerment from the employee’s role and the managerial role are two different discussions entirely. Focusing on strategic leadership gives employees a baseline for how much empowerment they need look for within a organization. The role of the employee is powerful; the new employment force is demanding empowerment. Businesses are giving more control over to the employee in order to grow their organizations.
Organizations have come to a realization that without empowered employees a business has a “life expectancy” of less than a 3 year period. It is necessary to strategically build up employees and prepare their minds on a large scale to be as beneficial for the company as possible. There must be a set strategic direction and transform from employee empowerment to the organization as a whole. The workforce is far past the times of employees working and asking no questions of why they are conducting a business in a “certain way of doing things.” A new employee has been created with a new way of conducting business. This new employee not only wants to know how the business works, but also how they can make it a better company with the best interest of both themselves and the company.
Businesses realize that getting employees pointed in the right direction, and empowering them is not a loss of control but a gain for strategic leadership within the business. Empowerment leans more at granting or enabling employees to have power or abilities. In this matter employees are more likely to go to numerous jobs before they “become loyal” so, it is more important to give employees what they want early in their careers with the business to ensure the likelihood of them staying is better than not empowering in the early stages of their employment.
Success comes in all different forms of managerial thinking. Just as there is a new employee in the workforce, there are also new managers in the workforce as well. These practices, coupled with commitment from top management will ensure the business dialogue and operational layout outlines empowerment for the modern workforce.
