Should over weight people be protected under some kind of hate law or discrimination? Over weight people for quite some time now have been products of all types of jokes and backwards humor. They are picked on by smaller members of society repeatedly.
Yes, being over weight is now being treated as a crime by some. Much the same way people were treated prior to the days before Civil Rights Laws were implemented. Some say they should be charged more for airline seats, they already pay more for clothes, and the latest was being charged more for having one’s nails done.
Here are four reasons over weight people should be protected at the very least under a Hate Crime Law.
Reason 1: Protecting over weight people from needless name calling and people like Jillian Michaels who constantly puts down over weight people on The Biggest Loser Show.
Just once I would like to see her put on a duffle bag that would give her equal weight to the person she was pushing and see how she would hold out.
Reason 2: How does one who is not an expert determine how much a person should weigh to sit in salon chairs that are rated for 200 pound people?
Reason 3: The Federal Government has all but stamped out the cigarette smoking industry I guess they have decided to pick on overweight individuals. I think I have seen this in a Stephen King movie called Cat’s Eye, “Quitter’s Inc”, available at www.netflix.com .
When they are through with the obvious overweight people they will be coming for you too.
Reason 4: People are all created different and come in all shapes and sizes. This does not give anyone the right to discriminate. This is also not a crime in America let’s not make it one. Do American’s have the right to be over weight? I believe this should be a question asked to any politician running for office not only this fall but forever more until overweight people are protected.
There are as many skinny people with health problems as there are overweight people. The only difference is it is socially acceptable to be skinny but not what some people call fat. Overweight people have feelings and feel just as good about themselves as any one else. Let us never discriminate against anyone for race, creed, religion, country of origin, or SIZE. Let American’s be American’s without prejudice.
