Is Michelle Obama actually a fashion icon or a beneficiary of political populism and sycophancy? Well, is she, or is she the winner of a sickening and continued “we love everything Obama” mindset so pervasive about now?
First, let me be clear here. I don’t care for Michelle worth a damn. I had no beef with her before the “For the first time in my adult life I am proud of my nation,” (paraphrased) comment. Her having a staff so large is another thing that riles me. Did all previous First Ladies have massive staffs? No? Then why her? There is nothing impressive about her in my opinion, but I will admit that is a personal bias. But is she really a fashion icon and trend setter?
Of course in my opinion she’s not. Most of all this “Michelle is so trend setting” noise is nothing more than the same sycophancy that forwards all things Obama are just so wonderful new, exciting and valid. Let’s examine some news and magazine headlines and then you tell me.
Click this link, http://mrs-o.org/ and then tell me the pink shift she’s wearing is “fashionable” in any sense of wonderment or trend setting.
Or try this one on for size, http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/Politics/popup?id=5322917 and then tell me the bizarre vacation wear is anything to emulate and want to project.
One can read mainstream media sycophancy here http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington/2010/10/michelle-obama-fashion.html and regale me how wonderful she is.
Does the rather common – nice and all, but common appearing outfit in the picture at http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington/2010/10/michelle-obama-fashion.html, make her look like anyone other than a fan would want to copy? I mean the outfit is fine and all, but it’s nothing to write home about, so what gives?
And try this link on for size: http://www.harpersbazaar.com/fashion/fashion-articles/michelle-obama-fashion. Is this what passes for high fashion, and especially the way she looks in it? C’mon y’all, be real for a minute. A black topped, white bottomed empire waist dress is fashion? And enjoy the “lady-like” pose. I am more graceful than that. How stupid are people?
How does this one look? http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/08/26/earlyshow/living/beauty/main4383954.shtml?source=mostpop_story. It’s a aqua shift for Heaven’s sake. That’s fashion? Damn, I look that good in my NC State Snuggie I am wrapped in due to my dogs running in and out the open patio door and the cool air seeping in, and no one is calling me a fashion icon.
Here is another simple yellow shift looking thing – http://www.time.com/time/arts/article/0,8599,1910577,00.html. This is high fashion and worthy of billions of words in the ether?
I think this is enough examples, no? Of course if ya love all things Obama then she looks like the queen. If ya find him, as do I and my associates, to be an overblown, full of himself narcissist, well then his wife and her attire are rather common and not of any specific note.
Yeah, I know, I hate him so I am projecting on her, right? No, not at all. I am not the one who forwards a woman in rather common attire as a fashion spectacle, now am I? Reality demonstrates the extreme level of sycophancy propping up her and her husband and their own exalted opinions of themselves.
She’s a nice looking woman SOMETIMES, meaning a perfectly attractive person of no special note. But the sycophants who forward her and big ears as all things to the Earth are just that – a retinue of followers and hanger’s on hoping to score big sales and readership. I’m sorry, but Michelle Obama is not elegant. Jackie O was elegant. Michelle is nothing on the scale of Jackie O – not even in the same universe in fact, and recall, I am no Democrat so I was not in love with Jackie, but she was elegant.
The truth is she loves wearing the clothes designers GIVE HER! I mean damn, give me Gucci suits and I’ll wear them suckers and look as good in that as she does in whatever Versace or whomever gives her.
