“God Calling” today talks about serving the Lord as simply, cheerfully and readily as we expect others to serve us. It’s that “Do unto others as you’d have them do unto you” concept-just put a different way.
I’m a bit embarrassed when I think of how often I’ve failed the Lord in this. Just last evening I had an opportunity to serve Him; but I almost didn’t because I was finished with my day and was on my way home…blah, blah, blah. The Holy Spirit is so faithful! He stopped me in my tracks, turned me around and made me go back and obey the Lord’s call. Someone had asked me for something to eat. I had to backtrack to a little store to get some food for the person. I’m on foot these days so it wasn’t just a matter of turning the car around. I had two bags plus a backpack to carry, and now had to go on foot to get this person a meal and bring it back to him.
I seldom feel such contentment and peace as when I just simply, cheerfully, and readily serve the Lord; when I obey His prompting-even if it takes me a minute to “get it.” My bags felt lighter and there was a joy bubbling up from within, and I still feel the same contentment this morning. Jesus Rocks!
We are to take each day, each interruption, and most delays too, as if by divine appointment. Really, they are; we just fail to see God at work in them. Our timing is not God’s. He lives in EST (Eternal Spiritual Time) and we live in LHT (Limited Human Thinking). You have to get to the point where it’s settled in your heart that you and your life are in His Hands, and you just don’t even worry about it anymore. You know each day is in Him; and more importantly He is in each day.
