HOPEWELL JUNCTION, N.Y. – Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) is a career politician who has his eyes on Harry Reid’s job as Senate majority leader. Mr. Schumer, who has never lost an election, seems not to be at all concerned that he is up for re-election this year; so confident is he of victory that he’s already making plans for his next big thing. Of course he has reason to be confident, the mainstream media would have you believe he is running unopposed and most people aren’t even aware that his job is on the line in two month’s time. The Senator from NY has been in office for so long that he has grown powerful and arrogant. He is not on the job to represent the interests of the people of New York; he is there to get what he can for himself in terms of power and prestige. The people whose taxes generate Mr. Schumer’s paycheck mean about as much to him as a dog does to a tick, nothing more than a host for a parasite.
Just as “every dog has his day,” this November New York voters will have their day, and a big chance to apply a set of tweezers to the bloated tick feeding off of them that is Chuck Schumer. Mr. Schumer is not running unopposed, as of this writing, there are two contenders for his Senate seat; Jay Townsend, and Gary Bernsten, one of which will be chosen for the Republican ticket against Chuck Schumer in the September primary.
The American people are tired of the arrogant, dismissive and elitist ruling class which holds them in disdain and disregards their concerns. Mr. Schumer is a perfect example of the way the will of the people means nothing to those who are paid to represent them. Last year, for example, when the public expressed concern over the massive stimulus bill and the wasteful spending known as earmarks and pork, Chuck Schumer said in front of his colleagues that the “chattering classes” don’t care about our tax dollars funding government waste. Working people mean little to this man, as evidenced by the way he used a vile epithet towards an innocent flight attendant because he was offended that she asked him to follow the same rules on an airplane that everybody else has to follow; he called her a “bitch” when she dared to ask him to get off of his cell phone before the plane’s takeoff.
Chuck Schumer has used his power and influence to intimidate and hustle entities for his own gain, such as the recent revelation that he has been leaning on hedge funds to garner financial support for his campaign fund and lobbyists in Washington. He has also worked tirelessly to stifle free political speech and silence dissent with the DISCLOSE Act that is intended to make it more difficult for the opposition to advertise against Democrats who face a tough election cycle.
Mr. Schumer does not work to protect the interests of the people of the state of New York, Mr. Schumer works to protect the interests of Chuck Schumer. The people of New York are but a means to an end for Schumer, for him that end is higher office, but we will soon have a chance to give him a more fitting end – retirement. It is time to sunset Chuck.
