Jarrow Brown Rice Protein powder is a complete protein and a vegan protein powder. Rice naturally is not a complete protein but Jarrow has somehow been able to take brown rice protein to the next level.
When I make my protein drinks I prefer to make them thick, like a smoothie. I don’t like putting it in a smoothie though. Any protein powder I have ever tried seems to destroy my smoothies. The flavor of Jarrow’s rice protein powder is not too strong in a smoothie but it is enough for me to notice. As mild of a flavor it just takes away too much from the true smoothie taste I am usually after. Plus, I prefer something more quick and convenient like adding to a drink and stirring.
I prefer to prepare the powder by itself and usually with water and not juice. I don’t usually buy juice and don’t want to waste my non-dairy milks I buy, so water it is. To be exact I use one scoop (which equals 11g of protein) of the Jarrow Rice Protein powder, water, a touch of natural vanilla extract and a tiny pinch of stevia.
It doesn’t stir too easily with just a spoon. Like most protein powdered mixes, the powder takes a bit of stirring to get the powder to dissolve fully and not just float to the top. I found the best and most easiest way around this is to use a small portable hand mixer that is essentially made just for mixing powdered mixes. A portable hand mixer is a great investment.
I enjoy it just fine in plain water with the added vanilla and stevia. It is not a taste I crave but it is palatable and don’t mind drinking a glass in the morning or midday. It is a little gritty but smooth at the same time, if that makes any sense.
One thing that surprised me about Jarrows Brown Rice Protein Powder, and sets it apart, is that it contains a complete amino acid profile. I don’t know how they did that. I even went to their site to see if they would give any clues, but I didn’t find anything. Though, the brown rice protein concentrate is processed naturally without chemical solvents. I guess knowing how they make it a complete protein isn’t as important as the fact that it is.
The amino acid profile is vegan and almost all amino acids exceed 100%. There are no artificial flavors, sweeteners and no sugars. The brown rice used is also non-GMO (Genetically Modified Organisms.)
I really like that the Jarrow Brown Rice Protein is a complete protein and easy to take. It is always my first choice when I look for rice protein powder.
