Jennifer Grey is trying to trick us. She’s tossing her own self-doubt to the crowd of viewers who plan on watching her on Dancing with the Stars. But, how can that be? We saw how her body moved in Dirty Dancing, and we’re not buying her so-called nerves.
In fact, we have pretty high hopes for Baby…er, Grey. She has the figure and the ability to get her groove on, whether she admits it or not. She gave an interview this week and said, “I feel like I was in a movie a really long time ago, playing a girl who didn’t know how to dance and that was easy for me, because I didn’t know how to do what I was doing.”(OTRC).
No, we don’t believe that. In fact, we have her pegged to go a long way in this dancing competition. You see, there are a lot of people out there who say that they can’t dance, and they really mean it. Just look at Kate Gosselin. Then, there are people out there, who shall remain Grey-less, who say that they don’t know how to dance, and they knock your socks off.
Jennifer is one of those people. It takes more than an ounce of talent in your body to be able to move the way she did with Patrick Swayze, all those years ago. You also have to have an open mind, and we’re pretty sure that she has that. Given the cancer scare that she just went through herself, there is no doubt that she has a new lease on life.
And, it may just be possible that we’re rooting for Grey for reasons other than just her dancing ability. In some way, it allows us to pay homage to a great actor that we lost too early in the game. If Swayze were alive, it’s a safe bet that he’d be sitting in the audience for one of Grey’s performances. But, who’s to say that he won’t be in attendance anyway?
With so much working for her, Jennifer appears unbeatable. She should use that to her advantage. Other stars may be intimidated by what she is capable of, and rightly so. Now, all she has to do is tap into the spirit of yesteryear and pull out all the stops. We have high expectations of this gal. She’s not fooling us one bit. Go get ’em!
