Everybody’s favorite spy is getting ready for the fall half of season 4. “Burn Notice” episode 13, “Eyes Open” debuts Thursday at 10 pm EST on USA. Michael Weston has faced off against crazy former Russian KGB agents, rogue CIA agents, and terrorists in his quest to rejoin the CIA. However, perhaps no bigger threat has awaited him than that of Jesse Porter.
Jesse also worked for the Agency. Michael broke into a government building and used Jesse’s credentials to find out classified information. Jesse was quickly burned for this transgression. When Jesse reacted in a similar way to Michael, trying to find out who burned him, he quickly wound up in over his head. Out of guilt for getting him burned, Weston helped rescue Porter from Asian mobsters. And although he didn’t confess, he offered Jesse a place with him and his friends in helping locals. All the while, Jesse searched for information on who burned him.
Meanwhile, Michael’s friends and family all warned him of the situation. Sam, specifically, didn’t trust Jesse early on. Jesse was far too much of a loose cannon for Sam. Over time, though, Sam began to respect Jesse, although he still worried about Jesse finding out about their role in burning him. Fiona, on the other hand, quickly took to Jesse. As a former IRA bomber, she didn’t necessarily mind Jesse’s more violent and dangerous reactions at times. In fact, the two began to develop a little bit of romantic chemistry, which caused problems, as she is very much in love Michael. Finally, there was Michael’s mother. She allowed Jesse to stay with her, during his tough times. Madeline fell for the young spy, who reminded her of Michael. She let Michael know frequently that she didn’t like having to like Jesse.
At first everything went fine. Towards the end of the summer season though, Jesse began to find more information about the people who burned him. Finally, he managed to get a hold of the video surveillance footage, and upon watching it all, realized that his “friends” of the last few months were the people who had gotten him burned in the first place. This led to an explosive confrontation with Fiona. He then began plotting how he would get Michael.
Also, at the time, Michael was dealing with people causing global conflict. In his quest to catch them, he was caught unprepared. Suddenly, he was surrounded by people who wanted him dead. Jesse showed up, in theory convinced by Michael’s closest friends, to help him. Michael got shot in the middle of the mess, and was captured by one of the criminals. The two began driving off, with Michael hurt badly. In an attempt to escape, Michael grabbed the steering wheel, jerked it, and caused a crash. Michael barely survived, while the criminal died in the crash. As Michael crawled towards his evidence, someone showed up at the scene, and the mid-season finale ended.
How this will all play out will be seen on Thursday. Jesse is still out there. Whether or not he and Michael will be able to patch things up is to be seen. How Michael will deal with the fact that Fiona and Jesse kissed is anyone’s guess. Will Madeline finally exit, because of her disgust over how Michael treats people? This season is certainly must see TV for any fans of the show.
