In this tutorial, I will show you how to create new site contacts in Joomla. These contacts can be added to your site kind of like an address book. This tutorial will show you how to open the contacts page and how to go through the fields to create your first contact. If you need help with editing, deleting, or publishing your site contacts, you can view my other tutorial on that topic for more help.
Loading Your Contacts Page in Joomla
We will begin with loading the contacts page in Joomla. This can be found under your Components menu. Open the menu and hover over the Contacts option. When the sub-menu opens, you will need to click the Contacts link. The page will then load and you can begin creating your new contact.
Creating a New Contact in Joomla
You are now ready to create your first contact in Joomla. To do this, click the New button at the top of the page. On the following page, you will see the different fields. All of these fields are not required, so you can fill out what you want.
In the Details box, you will need to enter the person’s name, the category you want to place them in, and the group you want to allow them to access.
In the Information box, you will need to enter the person’s address, email address, and other information about the contact. Keep in mind that all of these fields are not required, so only fill in what you know or what you can.
Adding the Contact to Your Joomla Site
After you have filled in the fields of your choice, you can add your first contact to your site. To do this, go to the top of Joomla and click the Save button. That will save your contact information and add the contact to your database. You can click the Close button when you are finished and you will be returned to the contact’s page.
