The media and the internet world is blowing up with news about Joran Van Der Sloot, again. There is concern from many people that Joran Van Der Sloot might not do any jail time in Peru, because his case has come to a screeching halt, because authorities are deciding if Joran Van Der Sloot’s confession is valid or not. Many people believe that if Sloot’s confession is tossed out that he possibly can get away without doing any jail time at all in Peru. There is also a photo that has been released of Joran Van Der Sloot posing with two suspects in high profile killings.
If it is decided that Joran Van Der Sloot’s confession is invalid then I doubt that he will walk away and not serve any jail time in Peru, because there appears to be plenty of evidence that will still hold up in court. Confession or no confession, there is still video of him entering a hotel room with the victim, and then leaving the hotel room all alone shortly after entering the room. There is also video of Joran Van Der Sloot leaving the casino with the victim, and Sloot appeared to have been trying to escape after he left the hotel by exiting Peru. Not only does it seem like there is plenty of evidence that could land him in jail regardless if he confessed or not, but the woman that was killed is the daughter of a well known figure in Peru.
If by a slim chance Joran Van Der Sloot gets his confession thrown out, and by a slim chance, say he is able to walk away from Peru without doing any prison time there, doesn’t the USA have an arrest warrant for him wire fraud charges and extortion? If Joran Van Der Sloot does walk away from Peru, then he still could be brought back to the USA to face the wire fraud charges and extortion charges.
One thing is for sure, and that is Joran Van Der Sloot will probably end up paying for his alleged crimes one way or another, whether it is behind bars in Peru or the United States.
