My wife made this great tasting fruit and ice cream drink in just a few minutes.
5 scoops Neapolitan ice cream (reduced fat OK)
6 oz. 2% milk
1 banana (average size)
5 regular size strawberries
1 cup crushed ice
1 oz. Hershey’s Chocolate syrup.
Two ten oz. glasses
This is good stuff! First, take the banana and cut into a few even pieces. Place in the blender. Next take the ice cream and place it in the blender. Add the strawberries to the blender and then the milk. Add the chocolate syrup. Lastly add the ice. Mix in the blender until all the big chunks of ice are reduced or about thirty seconds. Should have a slightly thick consistency when done. Use the wooden spoon to stir the ingredients. Blend a few seconds longer.
Pour the mixture into the glasses and stir with a spoon one last time. This recipe makes about two ten oz. glasses. Enjoy!
Fun Facts: Did you know the first smoothie recipe could be found in the Waring “Blendor” recipe books of the 1940’s. Smoothie’s became popular in the United States in the 1960’s. The first smoothies consisted of fruit juice and ice. In the 1970’s ice cream and later frozen yogurts were added to the mix. Some recipes use vegetables as the main ingredients.
