The Kansas City Chiefs take on their second AFC West foe in two weeks when they travel to play the Denver Broncos on November 14th. The Denver Broncos defense cannot be happy with what they expect to see from Kansas City Chiefs offense in this game.
It will be plenty of Jamaal Charles and Thomas Jones banging over the middle and beating down the Denver Broncos defense in this game. It could be reminiscent of the of the Oakland Raiders 59 point romp earlier in the season at the expense of the Denver Broncos defense.
Kansas City Chiefs Defense vs Denver Broncos Offense
The Kansas City Chiefs defense has been solid all season long but they have given up key plays in their losses. The secondary is young but fast and they have a reputation for containing and bottling up receivers. Against the run the Kansas City Chiefs have been solid. They have given up an average of 100 yards per game on the ground but they looked like they had difficulty with Darren McFadden of the Oakland Raiders in their overtime loss in their last game.
The Denver Broncos offense has been high octane when it comes to the passing game. This has made Kyle Orton and the Denver Broncos a one dimensional team. When the Denver Broncos won their Super Bowls they established a bust up the gut running attack that softened the defense and then John Elway picked them apart.
With Orton as a strong passing quarterback, Josh McDaniels has gotten away from establishing the run. The loss of Knowshon Moreno for several games did not help. The Kansas City Chiefs defense has the edge over the Denver Broncos offense.
Denver Broncos Defense vs Kansas City Chiefs Offense
The Denver Broncos defense has been a disappointment this season. The defense has given up an average of over 150 yards per game on the ground but against the pass they have been solid. They have allowed just over 200 yards per game through the air. Kansas City will pound the ball inside with Thomas Jones and on the edges with Jamaal Charles. The Denver defensive ends will be no match for the outside speed of the Kansas City Chiefs.
The Kansas City Chiefs offense is also one dimensional. Matt Cassel is rated as one of the worst NFL quarterbacks in the NFL and it allows the opposing defenses to stack the line and over play the run. Jamaal Charles is still fast enough on the edges to overcome the Denver Broncos line pursuit and Thomas Jones is enough of a bulldozer to pound out three yards a carry inside. Look for some old fashioned smash mouth football in this one. The Kansas City Chiefs offense has the edge over the Denver Broncos defense.
