He’s at it again. After this week’s brewing feud between Kanye West and the Today Show, Kanye took the fight to his Twitter page, doing his usual “I’ve been wronged” song and dance. West stated that the interview was forced and that host Matt Lauer was “brutal.” The rapper was scheduled to perform on the show Nov. 26, but after all the commotion that ensued this week, it now seems that he’s pulling the plug on the planned performance.
Kanye is well-known for his polemic behaviors. He’s always claiming to have been wronged in some sort of way, which usually leads to his own divisive actions. Well, today’s no different.
West appeared on the Today Show earlier in the week to apologize to former President George Bush for pegging him as a racist in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. The appearance was supposed to be a moment of humility and forgiveness, but soon turned into chaos and scandal after Kanye made allegations of unfair treatment and torturous needling moments.
According to MTV, he cried his heart out to the Twitter nation, saying, “I feel very alone very used very tortured very forced very misunderstood very hollow very very misused … I don’t trust anyone but myself! Everyone has an agenda….I can’t be everybody’s hero and villain savior and sinner Christian and anti Christ! Everything sounds like noise!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! EVERYTHING SOUNDS LIKE NOISE!!!!!!! I don’t trust anyone!” Drama queen, much?
On Thursday, the Today Show released an unedited clip of the interview showing an agitated Kanye West. He seemed to have a problem with just about everything that was going on, and had numerous complaints on how the interview was being conducted. It wasn’t the tortured soul depicted on Twitter who was seen sitting across from Matt Lauer. Instead, the audience found a rancid aggressor afflicted by the disease of celebrity. Lauer appeared to be trying to accommodate Kanye in every way possible, even though the rapper’s demeanor was at times disrespectful.
This is just another part of the saga in the life of Kanye West. The rapper is notoriously known for his rants and confrontations. No one is surprised at his involvement in yet another controversy. He famously interrupted Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech during MTV’s 2009 Video Music Awards, which created an uproar across the entertainment world and beyond, and now he’s bringing us another dispute that will surely be talked about for years to come.
West Tweeted to fans, telling them that he will not be performing on the Today Show, but the show says they have not received a notice of cancellation from Kanye West. With 14 days left to go before the scheduled live show at the Plaza, it’s anyone’s guess where the train wreck that is Kanye West will finally crash. He may very well land on the stage of the Plaza now that he has everyone’s attention.
