Backing up ongoing rumors surrounding her expected departure, it has been confirmed that Kara DioGuardi’s run on “American Idol” is officially over.
Joining Simon Cowell and Ellen DeGeneres as exiting judges, Kara told, “I felt like I won the lottery when I joined American Idol two years ago, but I feel like now is the best time to leave Idol.”
Making a name for herself thanks to her FOX job, Kara adds, “I am very proud to have been associated with American Idol – it has truly been an amazing experience.”
Commenting on Miss DioGuardi’s decision to exit, “American Idol” executive producer Simon Fuller said, “I will miss having her on the show, but I look forward to working with her in music for many years to come.”
Of her first season on “Idol,” Kara DioGuardi told press, “It was pretty hellish. Yeah, I got slagged. People were … it was difficult for them to accept the change. It was difficult for them to understand why somebody who nobody had ever heard of could kind of come out of nowhere and sit next to these iconic figures. You know, why was I there, what did I do to deserve to be there?”
“[The second season was easier] because I’m not as fearful as I was last year … For someone who’s never been on live television, it’s very, very challenging to go from the back of the studio to the No. 1 TV show, and that kind of visibility. And it was very, very, very scary.”
