Size of pattern: Small with (medium, large) in parenthesis. Size Large will make an ankle bracelet.
Materials: 1 ball of size 10 cotton yarn (doily yarn) in green, 1 ball of size 10 cotton yarn (doily yarn), in red. This pattern only takes a few feet total so raid your leftover bag. 52 size E beads.
Size of needles: Size 2
Gauge: 8 sts. =1 inch; 2 rows =1/4 inch.
Preparation: Thread beads onto the red yarn by wetting the end and twisting to make it guide through the beads. Another option is to put fray check on the tip, and let it dry then thread the beads on the yarn. You can also use a large eyed needle with these medium sized beads.
Cast on 54 (64,74)sts.
Row 1: Knit across with (green).
Row 2: Purl across (green).
Row 3: Knit across (green).
Row 4: Purl across (green).
Row 5: Knit across with red.
Row 6: Purl across (red).
Row 7: Knit (red) 50 sts, bind off 2, k 2.
Row 8: Purl 3 (red), cast on 2, *p 1, slip bead across and keep on purl side(right side of work),p 1 *repeat to last stitch, p 1.
Row 9: Knit across with red.
Row 10: Purl across (red).
Row 11: Knit across with green.
Row 12: Purl across(green).
Row 13: Knit across( green).
Row 14: Purl across (green).
Row 15: Bind off semi-loosely.
Finishing: Make a figure 8 with remaining beads and secure to the bracelet for the button.
Tips: You can cast using a variety of methods. This pattern was cast on using the knit on method.
Directions for knit on cast on method: Make a slip stitch, knit in that slip stitch. Place the knitted stitch back on the first needle. Continue knitting into the last stitch and then putting it back on the first needle until you have desired number of sts.
Alternative cast on: Make a slip stitch, knit in the slip stitch. Place the knitted stitch back on the first needle. Next knit in between the two stitches on your needle, then place the knitted stitch back on first needle. Continue until you have desired number of sts.
