The Reverend Terry Jones announced on the Today Show that he and his flock of fifty followers will not hold the scheduled Koran burning. Jones backpedaled by saying that he never intended to burn the Koran, but rather intended to bring awareness to the world of the threat radical Muslims present.
Jones pulled a publicity stunt similar to this a few years ago when he posted a sign in front of his church that read “Muslims are the devil.” The difference between now and then is that nobody paid attention.
In times when we are engaged in a war that should never have begun in the first place, the last thing the media needs to do is bring attention to a publicity monger whose actions can be used to recruit more radicals. General Petraeus was extremely unwise to bring attention to the actions of this idiot. Let’s face it: We are in a part of the world where we will never be wanted. To engage, and worse, to recognize the inflammatory actions of a moron who uses his church as a forum for such idiocy is unforgivable.
Anyone that burns any kind of a book is an idiot: That’s the difference between us and any type radical fringe (think Hitler).
