Lady Gaga’s meat dress Halloween costume is going to be the number one costume this year. The costume has to be reproduced without meat, for many obvious reasons.
The first being no one is going to want to be near you once the meat starts to drip and spoil and you are a walking treat for any neighborhood dog. Just the overall unsanitary conditions or wrapping yourself in raw meat is enough to nix the thought of having real beef cuts strung all over your body.
How do you make a realistic meat dress without the meat? Technology is the answer, and this is something you can do at home.
The best way to reproduce the dress to look as real as possible is by using iron on transfers of pieces of meat. There are two ways to do this, the first being to look online for realistic pictures of meat, blow them up to letter paper size, then print them out on a iron-on transfer.
The second way is to actually buy a good rough flank steak with lots of texture to it or buy a pot roast and cut it into strips. (When you are done, cook it up for your dog so it won’t go to waste). Arrange the pieces of meat on a letter size piece of paper and take a picture. Make a few different arrangements of the meat so you have a variation.
Load the pictures into a computer and then print out 10-15 iron-iron transfers.
Cut an oversized white T-Shirt to look like a short dress with one shoulder strap. Iron on the meat pictures all over the dress. When you are done, cut the bottom and all the edges of the dress so that they look jagged and frayed, just like Lady Gaga’s raw meat dress. Use a blood red belt to pull the dress in at the waist.
Next get a pair of platform shoes to decorate as the meat shoes. Make 20 long thin strips of blood red fabric (2 ft long and 2 inches wide) and 6 of the same size strips in white. Take a hot glue gun and glue one end of the all the fabric strips to the platform shoes. Randomly put three white strips in with the red strips on each shoe. (This looks like the fat in the meat) Use 10 red strips and 3 white strips for each shoe and glue the ends all around the base of the shoe. Leave the rest of the fabric loose to wrap around the top of your shoe and crisscross around your ankles when you are ready to wear them. Don’t forget the blood red fishnet stockings!
For the meat cap, use an iron-on transfer that has a picture of the meat and iron it on a white pillow case. Then cut it to resemble a meat cap. Make a small very thin pillow out of it to sit on top of your head. You can even staple a small pillow together, using a few left over pieces of the pillow case in small strips for a very thin layer of stuffing.
Accessories for this look: A tool belt with BBQ utensils, meat tenderizer, A-1 Sauce, steak knifes, salt and pepper and any other spices. Make earrings and a necklace out of light plastic forks and knifes for a dolled up look! You can even hang a fly swatter around your neck!
