The Prospect Heights Community Farm is asking for donations. But they want bags of leaves, not bags of money. Though I’m pretty certain they won’t refuse any bags of money.
Most bags of leaves left curbside for city collection end up in the landfill. However, if you drop them off at the community farm they will be added to compost bins and used as fertilizer for the gardens.
To contribute your leaves to the Prospect Heights Community Farm, simply bag the unwanted leaves from your yard. Then bike, cart, or drive them over 252 St. Marks Avenue between Vanderbilt Avenue and Underhill Avenue. There will be people at the drop off site to collect the leaves on Saturday and Sunday from 11AM to 1PM. This weekend, November 20th and 21st, is your last chance to contribute.
