Last Minute Halloween Costumes for Kids
Great Children’s Halloween Costumes Made Last Minute
OK, it’s the week before Halloween and you need great last minute Halloween costumes for kids. Between working, pumpkin picking, carving pumpkins, driving your kids to Halloween parties, football practice, corn mazes, laundry, dinner, and all of the other Halloween activities, either there is no more money left, you did not have time to get Halloween costumes for the kids, or none of the “good’ costumes fit.
Mom or Dad to the rescue, your first stop, the dollar store, buy very large sheets of cardboard, black and red markers and a roll of string. Your children are going to be playing cards, just like from a deck. Perfect last minute, homemade Halloween costumes for kids.
Let your child pick the card and the color for their own Halloween costume, but stick with the ace thru number 9 so no difficult drawing is involved. Measure the cardboard on the child, before doing any drawing or hole punching for the strings, if you have little ones you may get one costume out of two sheets of cardboard.
Hold the cardboard up to your child’s shoulders and back, and mark about two inches down from the top, and far enough in that the playing card will sit over your child’s shoulders. This is where the holes are going to go that will hold the string to keep the last minute Halloween costume over your child’s shoulders. Still holding the cardboard up to your child, measure the string over your child’s shoulders to the holes, leaving about three extra inches for knots you will make in it later.
Place the cardboard down on a flat surface and draw the playing card that your child picked out in pencil first, all of the suits are easy to draw, but it’s still better to do the first run in pencil. After that, color the front side in and do criss-crossing lines for the back. Punch the four holes that you need and pull the string through the front holes and tie knots big enough that they won’t slip through, put the other end of the string through the matching back side holes, tie the knots and you are done with your last minute Halloween costume for your child.
This is a great classic homemade Halloween costume for children, that does not cost much money at all, and it looks great too.
