When my last mop died (literally, the whole thing just fell apart!) and I had to shop for another mop I knew this was the exact mop I wanted. I had happened to read a review on it praising it and it seemed similar to the one I already had … and perhaps a wee bit better. So off I was to the store to find the Libman Wonder Mop!
I paid around $18 for it, and I feel that’s a good value. It comes with the mop pole itself and a replaceable rag style mop head. I’ve had to pay around $4-$5 for replacements and I replace mine about every 6 months or so.
What I like so much about the Libman Wonder Mop is that it’s not a sponge mop. I mainly have 3 areas I need this particular mop for – a ceramic tiled kitchen, 2 ceramic tiled bathrooms, and a painted concrete floor in the basement. With 3 kids and 5 pets we track a lot of dirt, and I admit I am slightly obsessed about having clean floors! I noticed that using sponge mops I didn’t feel like the floors were getting clean and also that the sponges were holding dirt and grime on them, and more pushing around the grime than anything. I tried a rope style mop and felt it was too “loose” to do any strong mopping. What attracted me most to this particular mop was the mop head itself!
The mop head is orange and colorful – but who really needs a colored mop? The mop is strips of orange and white that are textured to have some “scrubbing” action. The mop head really does look like a head of doll hair in ways! The entire mop head is completely machine washable, and the company recommends you replace the mop head after every 50 uses, and wash the mop head as needed. I find that one mop head lasts me about 6 months, and I wash mine weekly. (in with the regular laundry in the washing machine)
The rest of the Libman Wonder Mop is a green pole (which serves as the center of the mop) surrounded by a white plastic textured covering over 1/4 of it. The bottom half of this white part is the “wringing” section – it’s more of a cone that sort of pushes down and surrounds the mop when not mopping with large holes in it. (it snaps back up on the pole when not in use – so it’s sort of used overall in a sliding up/down motion) To wring out the mop you simply twist the bottom white part and it wrings out easily!
The Libman Wonder Mop is lightweight and super easy to use. I love that the mop head can be easily removed and washed as well. It really holds up well over time! I notice that it cleans well, using a back and forth mopping motion. I’d say it’s a fairly effective mop because my mop bucket is always full of dirty water when I am done!
I think it’s reasonable to expect a mop to clean well and to make floors look noticeably better. By changing the mop head every few months and washing in between uses I feel I get a really excellent value out of my mop. It’s a pretty easy piece to use, is durable and always ready! I am so glad that I took a chance on the Libman Wonder Mop!
