Does Lindsay Lohan even want to get clean of her addictions? Who really knows. She pays lawyers to plead her case, she has judges cutting her breaks and rehab centers releasing her. She has a mother who is totally in denial and is enabling her daughters drug and alcohol abuse by crying “discrimination” over any fines, tickets or jail time that Lindsay receives.
Meanwhile, the media bombards us with the latest tale of woe in the life of a has-been child star. Anyone who argues that Lindsay Lohan is anything more than the latest child star gone bad is most likely related to her or being paid to fix her broken image.
Lindsay may have had promise once upon a time, but unfortunately, a lack of parental guidance allowed her to fall into a self-destructive pattern. Is there any way out for Lindsay Lohan?
Drug and alcohol addiction can be overcome. The key to overcoming addiction is actually wanting to overcome it. You cannot be forced into rehab and expected to come out clean and stay clean. It takes a lot of soul-searching, therapy, hard work and changing your lifestyle. Is Lindsay really prepared to escape the Hollywood club scenes that she loves to frequent?
Although some might say that the media hounds Lindsay Lohan and other young celebrities, they would have had a hard time hounding someone who doesn’t make it so easy. Lindsay Lohan’s escapades made her a target for the media.
Lindsay’s drug and alcohol abuse may have been something that she was more at risk for being that her father is a very vocal recovering addict. Knowing this about yourself, wouldn’t you have worked a little harder to make sure that she was surrounded by people who weren’t just looking to ride on her fame? The problem is that her own mother is a quintessential stage mother who even managed to score her own reality show due to the fact that her daughter is Lindsay Lohan. How much in denial is her mother really? If her daughter was to get clean and start living a more respectable life, would the media still care?
Probably not. Lindsay would have to make one helluva comeback. I don’t think she has the talent to do that. Her mother gets more publicity off her daughter by her bad behavior than she did when she was an innocent child star. It is sad but true. Some women live through their child’s achievements. Dina Lohan is the queen of stage mothers.
It really is hard to believe that everyone who has come across Lindsay Lohan, from lawyers to judges, doctors to therapists, no one has stood up and said “enough”. Everyone along the way has had their part in enabling this girl on her downward spiral.
Ultimately, it is the addict who is responsible for their drug or alcohol abuse. As in the sad case of Anna Nicole Smith, too many people are afraid of being cut off from the gravy train and do not care about the health or well being of the source of the money. Anna Nicole was a drug addict but her addictions did not need to kill her. Enabling by making excuses and not facing the truth is almost as dangerous as supplying an addict with what they are addicted to.
What is next for Lindsay Lohan? Since she has violated her parole by testing positive for a drug test, she should be on her way to jail. What will happen? Who knows. Another slap on the wrist perhaps. Drug addiction is a sad fact of life that many families deal with. The problem with Lindsay Lohan is that no one is dealing with it.
