Probation Violation Lands Lindsay Lohan In Jail
Actress Lindsay Lohan is spending the night, and maybe the foreseeable future confined in the LA County Jail. TMZ is reporting that Lohan was returned to jail by Judge Elden Fox after failing a drug test in August, following her early release from a 90-day sentence related to previous DUI and drug possession charges. Lohan was granted release from jail after serving just 13 days of the 90-day sentence and was also granted early release from court ordered rehab.
The drug tests were part of her probation arrangement which also included intensive outpatient counseling.
Fox had Warned Lohan that Probation Violations would Result in Jail Time
Though it was widely thought that Fox would order Lohan back into rehab after she failed the court ordered drug tests (reportedly she tested positive for cocaine and amphetamines), Fox had warned Lohan that he would sentence her to thirty days in jail for each failed drug test during her probation. She lasted about two weeks. Fox obviously was not amused.
ShowbizSpy reported that Fox ordered Lohan to jail without bail until an October 22 hearing. Fox imposed the jail time without hearing arguments from attorneys on either side of the case.
According to TMZ, Lohan appeared shocked by Fox’s ruling. She was led from the courtroom in handcuffs.
It is unlikely that Lohan will be released from jail before her October hearing. Judge Fox’s rulings on such matters are rarely overruled.
Dina Lohan Accompanied Lindsay To Court
Lindsay Lohan arrived at the LA County Superior Court with her mother Dina Lohan, who has repeatedly defended her daughter and blamed Lindsay’s troubles on a host of other people and entities. Dina has been accused of being in denial and enabling her daughter’s self-destructive behavior.
Also in attendance was Lohan’s father, Michael Lohan. Michael Lohan is under court order to remain at least 100 yards from his ex-wife Dina Lohan and so was breaking the law by being in the same courtroom.
Michael Lohan Takes on the Enabler’s Role
Michael Lohan was the first to take on the Lohan parental enabling role. Lohan said “Jail is not good for anybody. It does not rehabilitate anyone.”
Lohan continued “(Lindsay) doesn’t belong behind bars….She’s hanging around the wrong people in the wrong places. Why is everyone point the finger at Lindsay?” Gee, I don’t know Mike…maybe because Lindsay continues to make the same BAD CHOICES over and over and over again. She is a 24 year-old woman and responsible for her own decisions.
Lindsay Lohan’s parents seem incapable of helping her make good decisions. It is sad.
When are Dina and Michael Lohan going to pull their heads out of the sand and help their daughter instead of making excuses and blaming others for her behavior?
