A new jail term for Lindsay Lohan appears to have just begun. Lohan wasn’t supposed to go to jail today, but rather showed up for a hearing about her recent failed drug tests. According to TMZ, though, Lohan was taken into custody, where she could remain for quite a while. In what was long assumed to be a simple bail hearing, Judge Elden Fox instead denied bail and placed Lohan into custody. There has been no news about when she might be released, and it is entirely possible that she could remain in jail until her next probation hearing on Oct. 22.
It is clear just from what has taken place that Judge Fox has grown tired of Lohan allegedly taking advantage of the court, and that this is a decision that was meant to send a message. Lohan recently was sentenced to 90 days in jail for violating her last probation, where she only ended up serving 12 days before being released. She then went directly into a rehabilitation program, but again was released early when doctors deemed her ready to head back to society. It didn’t take Lohan long to slip back into her old patterns, and she failed two drug tests while on probation. One of those tests found cocaine in her system, while the other one discovered amphetamines.
When the courts found out that Lohan had failed the drug tests and confirmed what had taken place, a bench warrant was issued for her arrest. The arrest warrant was held in check until Friday, when Lohan was able to turn herself in. It was at this point that Lohan was taken into custody and placed behind bars again. This could actually be the best thing possible for Lohan, because her addictions have obviously gotten the best of her recently. She seems to be a danger to herself, and still doesn’t seem to understand how to follow the law. Maybe she should even consider herself lucky that she wasn’t caught using the cocaine that the drug test revealed in her system.
Lohan used to be considered the good-girl of Hollywood, but has since fallen a long way from that pedestal. It seemed for a while like she was going to be the next big thing in teen acting, but she let her career get derailed by late night partying and by flirting with the legality of many of her actions. Her addictions have become a big part of her now, and her recent lapses show that she is not “better” by any means. While Lohan still might not be considered a “bad-girl,” she was again heading down a destructive path that Judge Fox just put a stop to. Hopefully this stay behind bars will be the shock to Lohan that he first stint wasn’t.
