Lindsay Lohan failed one of the court-mandated random drug tests and admitted to that fact on Friday night via Twitter. The very offense of doing so could result in the star being sent back to jail for 30 days.
Lohan wrote on her Twitter page, “This was certainly a setback for me but I am taking responsibility for my actions and I’m prepared to face the consequences.”
She also wrote about substance abuse being a disease and that it doesn’t go away over night. Thus, no one can be really surprised or shocked that this even happened.
Ironically, Lohan performed a skit on MTV VMA’s opening act with Chelsea Handler in which she advised Handler, wearing an alcohol monitoring bracelet, that “no one wants to work with a drunk”. She also told the often bawdy and acidic comedian “Believe me, I know!”
Superior Court Judge Elden Fox has not yet set a hearing for this occurrence is likely to do so very soon. One can only wonder if sending Lohan back to jail will yield the positive result we all hope Lindsay will one day experience.
However, Judge Elden Fox made it very clear that any failed drug test could result in a probation violation and additional jail time. In July, the troubled but talented actress was sentenced to three months in jail but only ended up serving two weeks.
She then spent over three weeks in an inpatient rehab treatment at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center and Judge Fox ordered Lohan to attend psychotherapy sessions and drug and alcohol counseling.
Had Lindsay been able and/or willing to comply, she could have returned to unsupervised probation by November.
