Hollywood married couple Lisa Rinna and Harry Hamlin made the Today Show part of their reality show Tuesday and couldn’t have asked for a better promotion for the TV Land show Harry Loves Lisa. Rinna was talking about lip reduction surgery on her trademark lips when Hamlin received a cell phone call in mid-interview. As it turned out, the L. A. Law alumnus was being informed that the clothing store he and his wife own had been robbed. Those in the Today Show studio and the television audience were let in on the news as Hamlin, obviously agitated and a little annoyed at his alarm company, took the call on live television. True to their craft, Harry Hamlin and Lisa Rinna didn’t allow the disturbing developments in Los Angeles to stop the show.
Hamlin told Today Show hosts Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb, “Girls, I have to tell you I have to keep my cell phone on, because our clothing store is being robbed as we speak. I’m getting the call right now to tell me what’s going on.”
Rinna, who starred on Fox Television’s hit drama “Melrose Place” in the ’90s, was apparently unfazed by events going on across the country and piped in as if cued for a promo for their new show, Harry Loves Lisa, “That’s real life, baby!”
“The store is being robbed?” Hamlin asked. “They take much? They took piles from the first two racks, yes?”
Unlike his wife, the 58-year-old Hamlin was growing visibly more angry, blaming the store’s alarm company, noting they were “supposed to take care of this, and they did nothing, did nothing!”
He quickly ended the call: “I’ll call you back because we’re on live TV right now. No one was hurt, and the police are coming.”
Harry Hamlin and Lisa Rinna own the clothing boutique Belle Gray in Sherman Oaks, Calif.. According to TMZ, police responded to a call after a security alarm went off at the store. ADT Security Services, the store’s alarm company, said they notified LAPD within two minutes of the alarm going off. They also noted that they offered security personnel as part of their services, but Hamlin and Rinna had not opted for that package.
Radar Online reported that the store had been burglarized around 6:30 a.m. The thief — or thieves — made off with approximately $10,000 worth of clothing.
Harry Loves Lisa debuts on Wednesday night on TV Land.
