Yes, I admit it. I am definitely a junk food junkie. Whether it be potato or corn chips, cookies, crackers, pizza or snack cakes and pies, I just love eating prepared snack foods. Last week, while buying bread at a bodega in my Hartford, Connecticut neighborhood, I happened to notice Little Debbie brand Raisin Creme Pies for the first time. I decided to purchase one of these snack pies and I’m glad that I did so.
I have long thought that raisins were an under – appreciated fruit. Aside from eating them plain, how often do you really see raisins being utilized ? Sure, you see them in raisin bran cereal, bread pudding and oatmeal – raisin cookies, but their appearances are generally few and far between.
When I saw that this Little Debbie item combined raisins with a snack cake and a fluffy creme filling, I just had to try it. This tasty snack item has so impressed me, that I have decided to write a review of it. Presented here, in an effort to assist the consumer, is one food writer’s product review of the Little Debbie Raisin Creme Pie.
Upon first glance, the Little Debbie Raisin Creme Pie does not look very big. After opening the wrapper and starting to eat the pie, however, it quickly becomes evident that this item packs a lot of flavor into a small amount of matter. The net weight of this snack pie is 2.13 ounces (60 grams) and one pie counts as one serving. In physical size, this pie measures approximately 3″ x 3.5″ and it was just the right – sized dessert to satisfy my appetite and sweet cravings.
The suggested retail price that is printed on the front label of the Little Debbie Raisin Creme Pie is the astonishingly – low sum of $0.50c. I don’t know how Little Debbie can charge such low prices for their snack cakes. It would seem to me that the ingredients alone would cost more than the price of this item, but I’m certainly not complaining. When it comes to bargains, I don’t think that you can do much better than $0.50c for a satisfying snack item.
This flavorful snack pie actually offers three different textures, each of which is pleasing. The cookie, or cake part of this pie is soft, yet appealingly – firm, the raisins are plump and juicy and the creme filling is whipped – smooth and creamy. All put together, these ingredients form a satisfying product that offers a very pleasing mouth – feel. The raisins provide a nice, chewy contrast to the cookie and creme filling, making the Little Debbie Raisin Creme Pie an enjoyable product to consume.

Taste / Flavor
I must say, I was very surprised by the flavor of the Little Debbie Raisin Creme Pie. While this item tastes a lot like I thought it would, it also tastes even better than I expected it to. The cookie, or cake part of the pie features a pleasant and mellow flavor that is not too sweet. The cookie is studded with raisins, which add another dimension of flavor to the product.
In my humble opinion, the one component that really distinguishes this product is the fluffy, white creme filling. This filling is actually quite sweet, but not over – poweringly so. When these flavors are combined, the resulting snack pie is quite delicious.
