The Little League World Series 2010 schedule was nearly blank today. Yet the Little League World Series 2010 schedule has one game today, after yesterday’s Little League World Series 2010 scores left the schedule missing one final-four team. The international championship match was already set on Wednesday, but yesterday’s scores could have set the U.S. final matchup in stone as well. It was certain that one spot would be filled, by either Pearland, Texas, or Auburn, Wash.. Yet thanks to Waipahu, Hawaii, the Little League World Series 2010 schedule has one more game before the weekend.
It was an all-U.S. doubleheader yesterday, as Pearland and Auburn started off with their final showdown. After Auburn defeated Pearland on Wednesday to stay alive, it put both teams on the brink. Through five innings, it appeared that Auburn would stave off elimination yet again.
Instead, the Little League World Series 2010 schedule has Pearland in the U.S. final after all. With the score 5-3 Auburn in the sixth, Pearland rallied back with four runs, including a home run by pitcher Mason Van Noort. Auburn couldn’t get a rally of their own afterward, which finally sent them home after winning three do-or-die games.
Despite the difficult circumstances, Pearland is the third team to get on the Little League World Series 2010 schedule for the final weekend. The second of the day’s scores could have determined the fourth team, if Columbus, Georgia, had prevailed.
Like Pearland did on Wednesday, Columbus could have clinched a U.S. title game spot with one win. But, like Pearland, Columbus must play one more game on the Little League World Series 2010 schedule first. In this case, Waipahu staved off elimination with a 7-4 victory.
Waipahu got into this round with just one hit on Wednesday. Their scores in both hits and runs improved last night, as they gave Columbus their first loss. But to face Pearland in the championship game, Waipahu needs one more win.
The Little League World Series 2010 schedule has seen very close scores in the later rounds. Instead of 23-0 blowouts, there have been late rallies and clutch hits at the last minute. Pearland got the biggest rally of all yesterday, and now they get a day of rest, while Columbus and Waipahu square off again.
The final four is nearly set in Williamsport, although it isn’t settled yet. Today could have been a day of rest for everyone, but now Columbus and Waipahu are both fighting for their lives, like Pearland and Auburn were yesterday. After today’s score is settled, the Little League World Series 2010 will reach the championship stage, with the international and U.S. finals preceding Sunday’s title clash.
