If you’re like me and have lived of Top Ramen noodles a time or two, or are using Top Ramen as your common food source now, here are some awesome tips to liven up this super cheap food staple to make it more filling, more tasty, and certainly a lot healthier.
I have to substitute meat-free chicken bouillon cubes so I can eat Top Ramen, and these meat-free cubes have less sodium and more flavor than the flavor packets that come with traditional Top Ramen packets. A great way to make the meal less salty.
Add frozen vegetables or canned peas to your Top Ramen. Delicious and stretches a single package for two people or two meals.
Rice noodles go great with the Top Ramen flavor packets. You can buy rice noodles very cheap in the Asian or Oriental food section at your local grocery store, and you can cook rice noodles instead of the Top Ramen dry noodles to make your meal more authentically Asian. Throw in some green bell peppers, parsley, or even a raw egg as your boiling your noodles for a great Asian feel and to stretch your meal further.
Add Top Ramen noodles and flavoring to any Riceroni or packaged rice meal to really stretch the meal for a few days. Add a bunch of baby carrots for a vegetable serving, and you’ve got a meal for the whole family under $2!
For chicken or beef (or any Top Ramen flavor) toss in a teaspoon of sour cream and a slice of American cheese and you’ve got a creamy, stroganoff taste to your Top Ramen. I love doing this with mine!
You can forgo the Top Ramen flavor packet and just toss in fresh vegetables or vegetable flakes and add soy sauce or sweet and sour sauce for a great flavorful meal without all the sodium of the flavor packet.
Store the flavor packets for future use for soups, rice, and broth dishes as needed.
Cut up fresh mushrooms and toss them into your Top Ramen just as the noodles are beginning to separate. Delicious.
Crunch up the Top Ramen noodles and use them as a flavorful crunch for salads, on top of casseroles, and to eat as a plain snack by themselves. I love dry Top Ramen and just put the unused flavor packet in the cupboard.
Crunch up dry Top Ramen noodles into small pieces (but not crumbs), put them on a cookie sheet and spread chocolate and caramel sauce on top of them. Sprinkle on some peanuts or raw almond pieces and you’ve got a crunchy dessert and snack.
You can stirfry Top Ramen noodles and add stirfry vegetables to the mix when cooking. All you need is soy sauce!
