Most people enjoy going to bowling alleys to bowl, hang out with friends, and have a great time. Today I’m going to recommend the best local bowling alleys in Cary, North Carolina. One, I am recommending for families, and the other I am recommending for adults.
Where I lived for almost seven years in Cary, North Carolina, we only had two bowling alleys – Buffalo Lanes Family Bowling Center and AMF South Hills Lanes Bowling Center. Before my family found Buffalo Lanes, we had always gone to AMF South Hills because it was within two minutes of our house. AMF South Hills is not the best bowling alley for families, while on the other hand it is a great bowling alley for adults, college students, and older teens. Buffalo Lanes is the best bowling alley in Cary for families.
Whenever my family went to AMF, there were always adults drinking, bowling and smoking. Occasionally we would see other families and groups of children. For the most part, adults were the main customers. Many times when my family and I, or friends and I, went to AMF South Hills, we would either be the only ones in the building besides the employees, or there would be a small group of adults bowling. Not being a smoke-free environment, AMF always had smoke clinging to the ceilings of every part of the building. There is a bar next to the concessions and usually has quite a bit of business, not with customers sitting at the bar, but with customers ordering alcoholic beverages. With this bowling alley, food is not its strong point. The pizza is by far the best food. The food prices are comparable to a movie theatre’s prices – a bit over priced for what the food is worth. The arcade is very small without any kids games. The prices for shoes and bowling games are decent. Overall, AMF South Hills Lanes is decent for adults. Those with young kids and families should travel to the bowling alley I talk about next.
Buffalo Lanes is very similar to AMF South Hills concerning prices and food, with the exception of being smoke-free and perfect for families, and the company advertises it as so. The arcade room is humongous! Games of all kinds and for all ages. It has games comparable to those of Chuck E. Cheese. The food is quite good as well with prices similar to AMF South Hills and movie theatres. Another good thing for families, Buffalo Lanes is a smoke-free environment! Buffalo Lanes always has family specials, midnight bowling, and other great family-oriented activities. The only downside to Buffalo Lanes is the traffic inside the alley. Being very family-oriented, Buffalo Lanes is very busy so booking a large group or party, will not be easy and will have to be done way ahead of time, unlike with AMF South Hills. By far, Buffalo Lanes is the best family bowling alley.
Overall, Cary, North Carolina has two best bowling alleys – and they are best for two different reasons, as explained. If you are looking for family-oriented, visit Buffalo Lanes, but if you are looking for a place with fun, alcohol, and an adult-oriented atmosphere, go to AMF South Hills.
