After only 6 months of business it appears that Lucas Fine Foods in Park Slope has closed its doors.
A sign on the door says the store will be “relocating” but doesn’t give an updated address, a re-open date, or any information at all really, reports Heres Park Slope. The owner has also not responded to email requests for additional info.
Lucas Fine Foods offered prepared meals, catering, sandwiches, salads, and “house-made ice cream.” Just about every blogger and commenter reports being completely unsurprised that Lucas is closing given the proximity of the store to several other grocery stores, although many express a great fondness for the ice cream.
For lovers of the ice cream, there may be hope: reportedly the owners plan to open an ice cream parlor on Vanderbilt in the spring.
Brownstoner reports that the sign indicated the chef “would still host weekly dinner delivery” service as well as a “monthly tasting menu,” although since the owner has failed to respond to requests for information, we cannot say exactly what will be available or what kind of schedule there may be.
We will keep you updated when we learn more about the ultimate plan, or fate as the case may be, of Lucas and its owners.
