My first experience with the Lucerne Eating Right line of frozen dinners was less than enjoyable. I went back and gave this line of meals a second and third try and now I am absolutely hooked. My new favorite frozen dinner is their Chicken Poblano. This delicious frozen meal is a snap to prepare, is very affordable and really fills a hungry stomach.
The front of the box pictures a tasty dish of chicken and pasta liberally doused with a chili sauce. The cover advertises that this product is high in protein and very low calorie. These two factors are very appealing when trying to lose a few pounds, but don’t want to sacrifice flavor or quality. I generally pay only two dollars and fifty cents for this meal, which is very appealing when trying to keep a food budget under control.
Preparation of this frozen dinner takes only minutes from microwave to table. After removing the meal tray from the outer packaging, the plastic film gets pierced with a fork or knife three or four times to allow the tray to vent during the cooking process. It then gets cooked on a High setting for approximately four or five minutes. After removing from the microwave, the food should be allowed to sit for about a minute before enjoying. This meal can also be cooked in a traditional oven. I have tried this method as well and noticed little to no change in consistency or flavor when compared to cooking it in the microwave.
One complete tray of Eating Right Chicken Poblano contains only three hundred and ten calories. There is eight grams of Fat in this meal, with three grams from Saturated Fat. There is forty milligrams of Cholesterol as well as four hundred and ninety milligrams of Sodium. If you are on a low salt diet, you should take note that this amount is twenty percent of the daily recommended value of Sodium. Additionally, one meal offers two grams of Dietary Fiber, three grams of Sugar and twenty two grams of Protein. On the plus side of this frozen dinner, one meal contains six percent of Vitamin A, eight percent of Calcium, ten percent of Iron and forty percent of Vitamin C. I love the fact that eating this dinner gives me almost half of the recommended value of the immunity boosting Vitamin C during the Fall and Winter season when viruses and colds are so prevalent.
Overall, this frozen dinner gets a full five star food rating from me. The chicken always cooks up beautifully and is very juicy and tender. The pasta is very flavorful and really adds some bulk to this meal. The chili sauce is ample and gives the meat and pasta a real kick. I am always quite satisfied after indulging in this easy to prepare meal. I highly recommend this inexpensive frozen dinner for it’s great taste, low cost and simple cooking process.
