It’s difficult to find a take-out restaurant that isn’t a major chain yet still has great food an affordable prices.
Located at 5 North Black Horse Pike in Runnemede, NJ, Luigi’s indeed has a large variety of take-out items for any palette, and they’re open seven days a week.
I personally love Luigi’s because they have an extensive low-carb menu. If you’re a tuna lover, try their Tuna Melt (with melted Swiss and tomato on pita bread) for $6.75, or the Tuna Wrap (with lettuce and tomato on a low-carb wheat wrap) for $6.75. If you like turkey, try the Grilled Turkey (with honey mustard and Swiss cheese on pita bread) for $6.75 or the Turkey Special ala Atkins (with Russian dressing and coleslaw on rye bread) for $7.25. Also try the Grilled Chicken Supreme (with bacon and Swiss cheese on pita bread,) the California Grilled Chicken (with roasted peppers and mozzarella on pita bread,) the Chicken Salad Wrap or the Veggie Mediterranean Wrap (with roasted peppers, cucumbers, romaine lettuce, hummus, feta cheese, red onions, tomatoes and balsamic vinaigrette.) All low-carb menu items come with a side salad, with your choice of dressing.
Of course, nothing is more low-carb then salads themselves (if you get the right dressing.) Try their Caesar Salad with Shrimp, Grilled Chicken Garden Salad, Spinach Salad with Bacon, Cajun Grilled Chicken, Tuna Salad or the Greek Delight.
If you’re not exactly into low-carb but still want to eat healthy, try a club sandwich with fries, such as a BLT Club or Tuna Club, or a cold sub, such as the Cheese Lover’s sandwich or Tuna Salad hoagie. All club sandwiches are $7.95 while subs range from $6-$7. Also try their regular honey wheat wraps, such as Buffalo Crispy Chicken, Greek Grilled Chicken, Chicken Cordon Blue, Roast Beef Special, Waldorf Chicken Salad (with apples, raisins, walnuts,) and California Veggie (with eggplant, mozzarella, peppers, romaine lettuce and tomato.) All honey wheat wraps cost $6.50-$7.25 and are served with the customer’s choice of potato salad, French fries, macaroni salad or coleslaw.
If you’re into meat, have no fear. Try Luigi’s excellent cheesesteak selection, such as their Philly Cheesesteak (with peppers and onions,) Cheesesteak Hoagie, Pizza Steak, Chicken Cacciatore (with mushrooms, onions, peppers, tomato sauce and mozzarella) or Buffalo Chicken Cheesesteak. Eight inch steaks range from $6-7, while sixteen inch steaks cost $8.45-$9.45.
If you want a hot sandwich or sub, try their Meatball Parm, Sausage and Peppers, Veal Cutlet, Gyro Beef or Hot Roast Beef and Provolone. Also try their New York Style Sandwiches, such as a hot Rueben, cold Corned Beef or hot Pastrami and Swiss.
Perhaps you’re craving bar and/or barbeque food? Try the restaurant’s Hot Wings, which come with various sauces like Sweet & Mild, Hot Sauce, Atomic Hot BBQ and Garlic or Blue Cheese. Six wings cost $4.49, 24 cost $15.49 and 96 cost $50.49. Try their Chicken Tenders (3 for $4.49, 24 for $27.49,) or their Buffalo Bites for $4.95. If you want a Chargrilled Burger, try Luigi’s Bacon Cheeseburger for $5.25, Texas Burger for $5.95, Florentine for $5.25 or Buffalo Burger for $5.25. If you want a hot dog, check out Luigi’s foot long dogs, such as the Italian Dog for $5.25 or Chili Dog for $5.25.
Of course, how can I forget pizza? Luigi’s pizza is excellent and the staff will take specific requests, although they pretty much have every option available on their menu. Pizza is served as a 17 inch Sicilian, a 16 inch round large, a 14 inch round medium or a 12 inch personal pan pizza. Toppings include Pepperoni, Sausage, Black Olives, Jalapeno, Extra Cheese, Peppers, Anchovies, Onions, Garlic and Artichokes. Their varieties include Hawaiian, Mexican, Baked Ziti, Primavera, Margherita, Spinach and Bacon, Deep Dish, Stuffed Veggie and more.
If you want something small, try appetizers like Cheese Fries, Chicken Quesadillas, Mussels, Coleslaw, Garlic Bread, Crab Fries, Broccoli Bites and more.
Want some seafood and/or pasta? Try the Linguini Pescatore Mixed Seafood, with shrimp, scallops, clams and mussels for $12.95, or the Calamari Marinara for $9.95. Also check out the Lobster Ravioli for $14.95 or the Seafood Platter, with flounder, shrimp, French fries and coleslaw, for $12.95. Entrees include Veal Marsala, Veal Francese or Veal Parmigiana. Other pasta entries include Stuffed Shells, Lasagna, Manicotti, Cheese Tortellini, Penne con Pollo and more.
Currently Luigi’s has specials, such as $16.99 plus tax for 2 large pizzas, $13.99 plus tax for 1 large cheese pizza with 12 wing zings, $2 off any dinners of $10 or more, free 2 liter soda with any large Stromboli, and more.
Luigi’s has an eat-in section as well as take-out. I highly recommend their pizza, tuna and fries. To order, call 856-939-4440.
