It seems to be the latest topic that everyone is talking about, “Happy Meal Toy Ban”. There are some who seem to think that taking the toys out of the happy meals will somehow help kids make healthier eating choices. There are several things that they failed to consider when it comes to removing the toy from the happy meal. So after talking with some parents and children I came up with a list of pros and cons to taking the toys out of the happy meal. Find the results below and feel free to post your thoughts and comments in the section below the article.
Pros are there any
First let’s start with the benefit of taking away the toys from the happy meal. Even if you don’t agree with this, it does help to look at things from a positive perspective. First of all it may make the meal itself a lot cheaper. As a parent I would think that by removing the toy, I would save a few cents on the meal itself, right? Well that one is not guaranteed, but it would be nice if this does end up being the case. Another benefit some feel is that as parents you will no longer have to worry about the dangers associated with the toys they get. Some are not made for children under a certain age, and other may contain harmful chemicals so this will clearly be one less thing that you have to worry about. As far as the benefit to a child’s health is concerned, I was unable to find any parents who would stop buying happy meals for their kids if it no longer had the toy. Many parents say that they like buying happy meals simply because everything that your child wants to eat is in one box. So I’m not sure if that is a pro or a con, that is something you will have to decide for yourself.
Cons are there any
So what is the downside to taking the kids toys out of the happy meal. Well for one thing it will make it harder to get your child excited about going to McDonald’s. One thing that man children look forward to when eating out is the fact that they will get a toy. The other con is that it will end up hurting McDonald’s if sales suddenly drop because of this. The other down side is that many parents feel that it is not up to anyone else to decide what their child should and should not eat. Parents make that decision and they do not do so because of a free toy. Many do so for convince.
