Cellulite occurs when fat deposits raise to the surface of the skin and create “pockets” in the skin that are noticeable in the thighs, butt, and other areas. Over 80% of women get cellulite, and while there is no permanent home cure, there are things you can do at home to treat the appearance of cellulite, and it starts with how you exfoliate.
Grapefruit is a great exfoliant for treating cellulite, either as an oil in your daily body wash, or as a grapefruit half applied directly to your affected areas. While showering, apply a grapefruit half to your cellulite areas and massage the skin in a circular motion. The acids and juices in grapefruit draw out moisture from the skin, plumping it and “filling in” the cellulite puckering.
Coffee grounds are another great exfoliant. The caffeine in coffee grounds draws out moisture and again boosts skin smoothness by regenerating the skin and filling in those puckering areas naturally.
These are not permanent cellulite removal techniques, but certainly improve the appearance of cellulite.
To keep cellulite at bay all day long, make your own cellulite cream by adding cellulite-fighting ingredients into your homemade lotion, that is cheap, easy, and smells great! To make cellulite cream yourself, you need a regular unscented lotion, add 30 drops of grapefruit oil, 10 drops of juniper oil (which draws out moisture) 3 tablespoons witch hazel lotion or a tablespoon of witch hazel liquid (a natural astringent that helps regenerate damaged skin and encourages new cell growth), and 10 drops of rosemary, which tones the skin and helps firm the saggy appearance of cellulite. This lotion is rich in vitamins, and detoxifies the body from the inside out while drawing moisture to the surface of the skin, plumping skin all over and toning the skin for a greater appearance. This lotion works great to rejuvenate dry skin and bring back the supple look and brightness of healthy skin.
You can also make an easy moisturizer of Aloe Vera gel and Vitamin E (for skin rejuvenation) and a tablespoon of grapefruit oil or juniper oil for treating cellulite skin and dehydrated, dry skin for a healthier appearance.
In exfoliating the skin in the shower and applying a homemade cellulite fighter, you will find yourself with brighter, tighter, more youthful looking skin all over!
