Why make model horse accessories?
Model horse collecting is a very popular hobby, but it is also an expensive one. Being a model horse collector myself, I enjoy buying accessories like saddles, bridles, and blankets to make them look realistic. But buying accessories from the company catalogs is expensive and variety is limited.
I started making model horse accessories when I was about twelve. Since then I have designed western, english, and dressage saddles; blankets, currycombs, halters, and much more, all in miniature. Not only do I strive to make my projects as realistic looking as possible, but I also like them to function realistically as well.
Is it expensive?
Compared to buying model horse accessories from the manufacturing company, not at all. When I started, my original basis was to save money by making my own accessories. With the exception of a few specialty tools, many of the items you will need to complete projects can be found around the average household.
A fun and satisfying hobby
With a few raw materials and a little know-how, you can turn a basic project into a functional work of art. Have fun while creating something useful and save money at the same time!
Thank you and God bless!
