McDonald’s pumpkin pie is not like your grandmother’s old-fashioned pumpkin pie with the delicious flavors of cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger. In fact, it’s pretty much the worst pumpkin pie I’ve ever tasted.
I was always a fan of the McDonald’s fried cherry pie back in the “old days.” It was fattening, but at least it tasted delicious. The seasonal McDonald’s pumpkin pie is not even worth trying.
First, the McDonald’s pumpkin pie is more like a turnover like the McDonald’s baked apple pie. It appears to me to have the same crust as the apple version, which is not as awful.
Inside, the brownish/orange “pumpkin pie” filling is gloppy and gluey. I could not smell any spices. I could not taste anything that resembled pumpkin pie to me. The texture was not appetizing to me either.
Now, don’t get me wrong. I am not a complete McDonald’s hater. I appreciate the fact that they have made strides by offering the McDonald’s all fruit smoothies, which I love. But I’m being honest. I think I’d rather eat one of their seasonal corn pies in Japan or tuna pies in Guam than try their pumpkin pie ever again.
Everyone it seems is in the mood for pumpkin pie around the time of Thanksgiving and Christmas. Pumpkin pie is a holiday classic. You can’t, in my experience, get a taste of the holidays by ordering the pumpkin pie from McDonald’s. Better to leave your memories untainted.
How many calories are in the McDonald’s pumpkin pie? I can’t find any information on it. The best I can do is say the McDonald’s pumpkin pie probably pretty comparable to the McDonald’s apple pie which has 250 calories, 13 grams of fat and 13 grams of sugar.
Don’t worry about how many calories are in the McDonald’s pumpkin pie. Just skip it! Order a McDonald’s coffee, smoothie or tea instead. Save your pumpkin pie dessert cravings for the real thing!
In terms of taste, I give the McDonald’s pumpkin pie 1 out of 5 stars.
