He may have been given the boot on ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars” last night, but singer Michael Bolton wants to have a word with one of the judges.According to ABC News, the 57-year-old singer has called on “DWTS” judge Bruno Tonioli to offer him a public apology. He also thinks Bruno should be reprimanded for disrespecting him on Monday night’s show.
Bolton was infamously dissed by Tonioli after his listless dance with partner Chelsie Hightower on Monday night. Bolton’s jive started out with him in a prop doghouse, bone in mouth, and ended with Tonioli telling him he needed a “pooper scooper” and dubbing the dance “the worst jive in 11 seasons.”
Tonioli then proceeded to pull out the rarely-used number 3 scoring paddle, giving Bolton the lowest single score since season 2 of the show, when Master P received a total of 8 out of 30 points.
When “Dancing With the Stars” host Tom Bergeron joked that Tonioli could be in jeopardy with the audience of the ABC show after his Bolton bashing, Tonioli quipped, “FOX is waiting!”
On Tuesday “DWTS” night’s results show, Bolton said Tonioli was “inappropriate and disrespectful.” The singer also alluded to the fact hat his mother was in the audience and he was disappointed that she witnessed that level of disrespect.
While it’s true that Tonioli’s comments to Bolton were mean, perhaps a more thick-skinned contestant would have just shrugged it off. Bolton is clearly still smarting from the whole ordeal. But an apology from Bruno? I wouldn’t hold my breath on that one.
When judge Len Goodman called on Tonioli to offer some constructive comments instead of just criticism, Bruno stuck to his guns, not budging on the subject. Besides, is an apology really an apology if the receiver has to ask for it?
As for a reprimanding, don’t count on that either. What is ABC going to do — put Tonioli in Bolton’s doghouse?
Indeed, with this Bruno-Bolton feud and Monday night’s audience boo-fest, Season 11 of “Dancing With the Stars” is turning out to be one of the most controversial yet.
